Getting really sick of this saga of Iggy. Cant wait until July 15th, if he's not signed here, he'll be somewhere else. Ask me what I think of Feaster after that date. Dont really care about the press conference, I'd rather they interview Akim Aliu who threatens to crush Oilers all year long.

I'm right there with you Kevin....but unfortunately, he's the main topic of most conversations regarding the Flames...and there are more to come, Im sure.
I have a small write up about the presser...but cant add it just yet. The site is undergoing updates and wont allow me to save.
Because it wont let me save and I dont want to lose my thoughts...heres the gist of it.
- Was cool calm and collected, as expected
- Wants to stay in Calgary and win, as he strongly feels this team can win.
- As most assumed, does not want any distractions or further convos regarding his contract throughout the rest of the year
- When asked if he may entertain moving outside of the Flames to further his career, he would give answers as expected: I want to win here.
- Injury is a tight groin pull and although he will need a few days, should be good to go soon.
In essence: nothing more than what we all already assumed.
Feaster pretty much came out and said that if Iggy wanted to be re-signed by now he would be. His words were something like ownership and management has never waivered from wanting him to finish his career in Calgary.
Sounded like if the flames can show promise this year and win ( not Stanley Cup) Iggy would re-sign.
My take is that Iggy has enough class that he will either have re-signed by the deadline or he will tell them that they can trade him.
Not talking crap or anything but looking at that line up, you guys proabably have the worst team in the west. Even Columbus is in better shape. Kipper gets back to form this year.
Looking forward to the Sharks starting the year in Calgary!
Although I could agree with some of this, the bottom line is Feaster and Co. do not want to ice a group that will lose the interest of their fans in order to increase their chances at drafting higher.
This says it best sir. Why we are better off than being Oil Spill fans. May never win it all, but, we have hope and a (debatable) chance each yr to win. They didn't for 6 yrs, and without a Kipper, wont this yr.

Sorry but this is crap! I have company tickets in Edmonton and Calgary and even though the Oil have sucked the past couple years the games are still FAR more fun to attend. The Oilers have not lost the attention of their fans at all, but have actually increased the excitement levels.
Also...not sold on Hartly. I took part in a coachs clinic put on by Hartly and the Flames for Hockey Calgary minor hockey coachs and it didnt really give me anything. I would say I got more from Brent Sutters last one which is kinda scary!

1) The Cubs. It is fun to cheer for a perennial loser
2) Hartley won a cup. ill take that over Don Hay
And, to cue the Oil hitting the ice on 1/26, we should play (also a Canadian band!):

Yeah I know, kinda why this press is pointless & Iggy has played in a Canadian market long enough to know. Glad to hear that groin isnt too serious. Saw that schedule & OMG, the league should allow teams to carry 25-26 players because depth is going to be critical this year.

Hope you arent making conclusions about an NHL coach from a hockey clinic? What about the people that felt they got a lot out Hartley from the clinic, they dont count?Lets give the guy a chance to coach & judge him by performance. Sorry, I dont know how going to Oiler games getting clobbered is more fun. Losing is losing, it sucks, doent matter what team you pull for. Thats why you want to build teams with players who hate to lose.

Maybe a 5-4 barn burner game is more exciting to watch than a 2-1 dump and chase game. Also maybe different systems of offence. One for high end skill, one for grinding. Whatever works for you. I would rather watch 9 goals than 3, even if my team only got 4 of them sometimes.

Yes, the Oilers were a real barner team! 20 th in the league in scoring and a whopping 15 more goals than the Flames over 82 games. What a stupid post and unresearched post. How about some facts:
Number of times the Oilers scored 4 or more goals: 16
Number of Olier games that finished 2-1: 10
Number of times the Flames scored 4 or more goals: 21
Number of Flames games that finished 2-1: 11

I've received a couple questions to answer for the next mailbag blog...going to wait for more things to talk about though as right now its nothing more then "Iginla Iginla Iginla blah blah blah...." and training camp stuff.
If anyone has questions/concerns they'd like me to address, please submit via PM. Thanks!

Actually, i'm most entertained watching games where the outcome actually means something!!! Doesn't matter if its 2-1 or 10-9, if the outcome doesn't matter i'd rather watch paint dry or go play some shinny myself!
